FAQs

1. "What equipment do I need for P90X?"

Basically you have a couple of options. Your first option is to have a real pull-up bar and dumbells with weights 10lbs-50 to 70lbs in increments of 5 or 10lbs depending on your strength. This is the more expensive and space occupying option. The second option is to use only resistance bands with the "Upgrade Kit". With this option you will need the resistance band upgrade kit in order to simulate pull-ups. This is a great way to do P90X without spending a ton of money or taking up a lot of space.

2. "What equipment do I need for the other Power 90 workout videos?"

For these videos you will only need resistance bands or hand weights. No chin-up bar is necessary.

3. How much time do you spend daily in the program ?

Most of the videos are less than an hour long. The only one that's longer is Yoga X and it's about an hour and a half.

4. How many days a week?

To follow the program exactly, you will be doing one of the 12 videos 6 days/wk.

5. What is the program all about-what type of workout-weights/aerobic….

The program is comprehensive. It includes cardio, weights and is based on the idea of muscle confusion, that is, rotating exercises in a way that your body never gets used to what it's doing enough to plateau, so you're always making progress.

6. Do I have to wait 90 days to see results?

Absolutely not! You'll see a change right away. Depending on your body, within a week or two. 90 days is how long the program is set up for in order for complete transformation.

7. Do you lose weight on the program?

Absolutely. And gain muscle. It's meant to completely transform your body.

8. Any special diet?

Yes, there is. There's a fairly complex nutrition guide. It gives several options on how and what to eat. You can follow it's recipes and menus, day by day, or follow the diet based on it's structure and portions. This option allows you to eat what you want within each category: ie. protein, carbs, fats, dairy, fruit/veg etc. The guide is also the to make sure your body is getting what it needs to support your workouts and, therefore, changes every month as you gain strength and progress.

9. It looks like you have different workout programs. How do I determine which one is right for me?

Well, P90X is pretty 'hard core'. It's for people who want to really get into shape and change their bodies. It's the toughest one. I don't mean to discourage, though, since within each video there are always ways to modify the exercises to your level of fitness. The point is to get better, stronger, more fit as you go through the program so you obviously aren't going to start out being able to do all of it at once. Tony and the team acknowledge this in the videos and show modifications and encourage you to take breaks when you need to. If you're fairly fit and want to get 'ripped', I suggest P90X.

If you're just starting out on your fitness journey, however, I suggest the precursor to P90X, Power 90. The 'In home boot camp' is a complete work out program that starts a bit lower, a bit more manageable but is still very effective.

Then there's the 10-minute trainer which is more for people with very busy lives. If you can manage the 40 minutes-1 hr/day, go for one of the other programs. If not, this is a good option.
